What Is A Psychiatrist?

Psychiatrists are trained medical doctors/specialists and work with individuals to develop personalized treatment plans that can help improve their mental health. We use various methods, such as therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes, to help individuals overcome mental health challenges and live fulfilling lives. It’s important to know that seeking help from a psychiatrist is a positive step towards taking care of your mental health.

Becoming a psychiatrist requires extensive medical training. Unlike other mental health providers, psychiatrists complete four years of medical school learning about the major areas of medicine, followed by four years of residency training focused on the art and practice of psychiatry. Doctors are “life-long learners” and continue to take courses and complete recertification requirements. I ensure that I stay up-to-date with research and innovations in treatment to maintain the highest quality of care for patients.
